Blessing in Change

This past year could be described with one word... change; changes for myself and my family. We have had some hard and some good changes, but in the end they have all brought us closer to God and more dependent on Him, and increased our joy in Him.
In March, Jeff and I were blessed with our frist nephew. Cole Slater Capps was born on March 9th. Jeff was able to be there the day that he was born and I was up there the new week. He is such a precious boy and a blessing from God, we have loved watching him grow and change in the past year. We love our time with him and the family!

May brought alot of changes. I graduated from Texas Women's University with a degree in Child Development and went full time at the gym that I coach cheer at. My brothers finished thier two years at a community college nearby and both were accepted to Universities, and Jeff left for a series of camps and weekend events that kept him busy the whole summer.

August and September brought another series of changes. We moved my brother into a town home in Norman, Oklahoma for his first semester at the University of Oklahoma, this was incrediably hard for my family, Ross was the first of the three children to move out of the house. Mid August Jeff and I bought our first apartment together and we moved Jeff into it, and slowly started moving my stuff over, this was a challenge since I have been living in the same room for 20 some years now.

September 15th, Jeff and I were married, this first of the Bassingers and the last of the Capps. We were surrounded with family and friends on one of the happiest days of our lives. After retuning home, I moved in to the apartment and started the transition of having a new "home".

Looking over this year, I can honestly say that these changes have been a challenge although they have all been a blessing. We have added to the family in many ways, and are challenged daily with missing family that is not near to us. We know that God has great plans for the future for all our families, and know that this is not the end of the change. We are so excited to see the changes for this year that will only bring us more joy in the end. We have already seen so much in the 8 short days of 2008. Jeff has been offered numerous camps and traveling dates with Dr. Reid in the next few months and the summer, which is such a blessing since I am about to cut back to only a few hours on the weekends so I can concentrate on my internship at the hospital. It is so comforting knowing that in the midst of all the changes God is in full control and we can find rest and peace in His knowledge.

2008....IN STYLE

Jeff and I decided that we would have a little gathering at the house for New Years. It was going to be a Black and White Party, so any one that wanted to come could wear black and white and get dressed up for the new year. We had a great time, a group of 12 of us went to a Japanese restaurant and then headed back to the house where a few more people came over. I was a little nervous since we live on the third floor and a group of 16 might be a little loud, but we were good. We made it to the New Year without any complaints...

So Blessed

The past week has been filled with Christmas dinners, spending time with family and enjoying a week off with my husband. We have felt so blessed by all our family and the time that we have been able to spend with people that support and love us so much, we could not have better family. We spent the day before Christmas Eve and Christmas Eve with my family, we played games, ate and did our normal family traditions. We spent the night at my parents house and woke up Christmas Eve morning and did lunch with my grandparents. We left from there and headed to the airport to get on a plane to North Carolina. We spent Christmas day at jeff's parents house, and got to be there for our nephews first Christmas. We ate lunch with Nannie and Papa Capps and then enjoyed a night of naps and Christmas movies... (yes I got Jeff to sit still for about 3 hours.... that might be a record) We spent the rest of the week in North Carolina, relaxing and enjoying time with family. We got back on Sunday and were very tired, but have enjoyed every minute. We feel so blessed to have family that love and supports us. We love you all and hope that you enjoy the pictures from the past few days....
